About Martin Åkesson

"Painting is not hard, anyone can do it."

Martin is a hobby painter based in Stockholm, Sweden. He started in 2007 doing various styles in each painting, but has since 2012 also been doing collections. Martin does paintings with acrylic or oil depending on the style of the painting. 

"I prefer to paint with oil colours because I like its texture but sometimes I am too eager having to wait for it to dry."

In some of Martins paintings it is clear that he is inspired by great artists like Paul Cezanne, Pablo Picasso, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet and William Turner.

"Visiting art museums and exhibitions is the greatest possible inspiration."

Martin has had one exhibition in January 2014 where he showed a mix of his paintings during the years. Next exhibition will contain a collection but date is not yet set. 

"I can't just paint. I need to have an idea and I need to think about it for a while before making thoughts into action."
